On Behalf of Richmond Region League of United Latin American Citizens We request that RPS update their Help Desk phone number 804-780-6195. We continue to get concerns from families about their inability to connect with someone through this number. Too often no one is available to answer the call and no one returns calls after a message is left. Another issue we continue to hear from families is the accessibility of computer repair and hot spot help. The schedule for computer help is not clearly listed outside of schools and the van or individual who is assigned to repairing computers is not easily spotted by families.
The following are our requests regarding the RPS Help Desk:
1) Staff dedicated to answer calls during the hours of operation listed on the recording.
2) A commitment that voicemails be returned within 24 hours.
3) Add signage to your school buildings providing information to help parents navigate to support staff or computer help locations.
4) Ensure that the signs are in an info graphic format since some families can not read English or Spanish.
We can not continue to preach about teaching and leading with love or holding our educators and students to higher expectations when our division leadership isn't meeting these same expectations. Latinx families of RPS and all other families in RPS are holding you all to higher expectations. Please deliver RPS School Board. -Richmond Region LULAC Council #4614
